What is the difference between newsletter templates and email newsletter templates?
It’s common to see people search for both email free newsletter templates and email newsletter templates online. So what are the differences and will they have an impact on your choice and how you use them?
Email Newsletter Templates
We can think of these templates as focused directly on being sent to subscribers using email. When using email as media the primary goal you will have is to be able to have it delivered to your subscriber and look the way you want it to when they open the email.
This is easier said than done.
Using a pure text layout with hard row breaks, you can be almost 100% sure that it will show they way you intended when the subscribers read it. The drawback is that you can’t have all the flashy things like sound, video, colors or even different font sizes of bold letters.
Going with html you have support for everything and anything you could ever want but you need tools to handle the html coding as well as a lot mroe skills to not mess up the formatting. Start adding sound, flash, video, signup boxes and a lot of other widgets and gizmos from all over the net and you have a disaster in making (in regards to possible malfunctioning formatting). And you’re still not guaranteed it will look ok as there are many different version of html, xhtml, browsers and mail software that’s required to interpret and render your code.
So what about the “normal” templates then?
I’d say there’s little or no differences between normal templates and email templates in most cases.
The reason being that most template creators just create a template and then call it different things to get the most mileage possible out of the work they have done. I have not checked myself but I would assume that companies charging $30-$250 for just one “email newsletter template” actually have done some homework before creating it and some testing afterwards to ensure you get something worth the cost.
